Thank you for your interest in the South Asian Showdown competition. The concept of the South Asian Showdown is to put the best teams from different South Asian dance categories and have them compete against one another to determine the best team. The teams will each compete to win their respective category, and then one overall winner will be decided from amongst the category winners. Thus, we are looking for the best team from each genre and the best overall team amongst the 3 categories: Bhangra, Fusion/Hindi-Film, and Garba!
We will be placing 1st in each category (Bhangra, Fusion/Hindi-Film, & Garba/Raas), and one overall winner. The overall winner will be awarded $2000 and the category winners will be awarded $1000. However, more importantly than the ranking, we promise to bring the best competition and proper organization to a South Asian dance competition. Our goal is to promote our rich South Asian culture in the US, and through proper organization, creativity, and planning we believe this event will help us reach that goal.
Our executive team had a tough time deciding on teams this year as we had almost 70 teams apply!! Firstly, we want to THANK all the teams for making the effort of applying to our competition.
